Country Project Director, Nigeria

Babatunde Akinola is the MTaPS Country Program Director for Nigeria. Akinola has more than 20 years of experience across the pharmaceutical manufacturing sector, medicines regulatory agencies, multinational corporations, and most recently the public health space. As Country Program Director, Akinola leads the MTaPS team in Nigeria to strengthen antimicrobial resistance containment programs in collaboration with the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and state government ministries of health with a focus on multisectorial collaboration, infection prevention and control, and antimicrobial stewardship. Akinola has been working at Management Sciences for Health as a Senior Technical Advisor for quality assurance and pharmacovigilance, supporting the strengthening of supply chain competencies and performance of the health system since 2019. Before joining MSH, he served as a regulatory officer at the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control Nigeria with varying responsibilities and leadership roles during his 13 years of employment and as a corporate affairs manager at Intel Corporation for Nigeria and West Africa between 2013 and 2018. He holds a B. Pharm and a Masters of Information Science from the University of Ibadan; a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife; and a Post Graduate Diploma in Public Health, University of Western Cape, South Africa.
