Safoura Berthe, MTaPS Country Project Director in Mali, is a Malian public health specialist with more than 15 years of experience in the pharmaceutical sector. She has a background in program implementation with international organizations, with a particular emphasis on supply chain, quantification, and logistics management information systems. She started her career at the hospital of Gao (Mali) in 1998 as hospital pharmacist, worked as a regional pharmacist in the Kayes region for 10 years, and was chief of the medical laboratory at the hospital of Kayes. Dr Berthe was the first pharmacist of Mali’s NMCP. She worked for the USAID-funded SIAPS program from May 2013 to March 2018 as Senior Technical Advisor, Deputy Director, and ultimately Acting Country Project Director. Before joining the MTaPS Mali team in September 2019, she was technical director for Chemonics GHSC-PSM in Mali. She has a Pharm. D degree (Diplome d’Etat) from ENMP of Bamak and a masters in population and health from the Institut Supérieur des Science de la Population of the National University of Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. In 2011, she obtained a certificate in planning and management of tropical diseases control programs from the Institute of Tropical Medicine of Antwerp, Belgium.
