Birna Trap

Birna Trap has more than 35 years of pharmaceutical management expertise. She has assisted in developing national drug policy, sector reviews, drug administration and regulation, hospital pharmacy, health financing, rational drug use, capacity building, and health system strengthening in Africa, Asia, and Eastern Europe. Dr. Trap has a solid public administration and public health background based on 10 years in the Drug Regulatory Affairs Ministry of Health in Denmark, 3 years as WHO’s pharmaceutical advisor at the Regional Office for Southeast Asia, more than 5 years as the head of the Essential Drugs Programme in Zimbabwe (Danida), and 10 years in medicines and technologies programs in Uganda (USAID) and Nepal (MTaPS). Dr. Trap provided strategic, operational, and technical leadership in programs focused on reforming the pharmaceutical sector and implemented by numerous donors and UN agencies. She has strong strategic managerial and leadership skill and considerable practical hands-on experience and is an experienced M&E expert with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
