Zubayer Hussain has worked in health systems, including pharmaceutical systems strengthening, for more than two decades. Currently, he is a Senior Manager for MTaPS, providing management and technical support to Bangladesh, Nepal, and Jordan. He supervises field-based Country Project Directors to deliver quality results in health systems strengthening and pharmaceutical management, including support for improved procurement and supply chain functions, pharmaceutical management information, regulatory functions, pharmaceutical services, and the national TB control program. Mr. Hussain is also the technical strategy lead for a DFID-supported project that aims to improve access to affordable, quality pharmaceutical services in private retail drug outlets in Bangladesh. Previously, he was the Country Program Director for SIAPS projects in Bangladesh. He has held advisory and leadership positions at global organizations such as CARE International, HLSP (Mott Macdonald Group), the World Bank, and the Asian Development Bank and for bilateral organizations such as the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Bangladesh and the Japan International Cooperation Agency. He has a master’s degree in public health and a bachelor’s degree in medicine and surgery.
