Medicines to Markets: Building Effective Medicines Registration System in LMICs

Published : April 26, 2021

Before medicines and other medical products can reach markets, they must go through a country’s medicines registration system to adequately assess and validate their quality, safety, and efficacy and authorize them for market entry. However, low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) face deep challenges in medicines registration that undermine their market access to quality-assured medicines. On April 13, 2021, the USAID MTaPS hosted the “Medicines to Markets: Building Effective Medicines Registration System in LMICs” as part of our Global Learning Series webinar. The webinar shared MTaPS’ approach and experience with countries to bolster their medicines registration function and support expedited registration in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Webinar also provided perspectives of pharmaceutical regulatory authorities and leading experts and implementers in Bangladesh, Mozambique, Rwanda, and Nepal.
